A Classic Takes It

We asked for your stories of the best color you ever painted something, and wouldn’t it make sense that the Challenge winner used a classic beauty?

Yup. Debbie Perkins’—first furniture makeover ever, painted in a rich, punctuating black—just won the Challenge! Here’s her makeover photo and comments:

Debbie Perkins Best Color End Tables

“I’m new to painting, but I found some cheap end tables in the classified ads that needed some work, and decided to give it a try. I went with what I think is the best color for furniture, black. I used Rust-Oleum’s Painter’s Touch Ultra Cover 2x in Flat Black.

I decided to use spray paint because I figured it would be faster and wouldn’t show mistakes as much, with this being my first attempt at refinishing a piece of furniture.

I love the way my end tables turned out. I think the end tables look like “thrift store vs. Pottery Barn”. I LOVE the black, and wouldn’t have done any other color. It matches everything, and looks very classy and beautiful. Black is the best color ever for furniture!”

House Beautiful 500 Favorite Paint ColorsEach Challenge entrant earned three entries, and each person who told her story in the Comments of the Challenge earned one entry, in our random drawing (just completed at Random.org)!!

Congrats to Debbie, and thanks also to Tess for sharing the dreamy blue that transformed her kitchen into a jewel.

Debbie, email me here with the address where I can send your prize—the incredible paint ideas reference—bookazine “House Beautiful’s 500+ Favorite Paint Colors.”

I know you’ll put it to good use!
